Last Saturday at our Library they had a Fancy Nancy Soiree. I jumped on the chance to take my fancy girl to this free event and I am so glad I did. I have to comment on the outfit she wore because most of you will look at her and think she dresses way fancier every afternoon with her sparkly skirts and tutu's. Well, she had a birthday party Saturday afternoon for a boy from school and on Friday evening she picked out "a really cute outfit" to wear. So while getting ready she insisted she needed to wear the party outfit to the soiree so she would be ready for the birthday party...even though I tried to explain to her they were 5 hours apart. So instead of taking an opportunity to wear sparkly tutu's and non matching shirts out of the house, she opted for cute. The library did a great job with the soiree and fun was had by all!
Just realized I uploaded the pictures backwards, can't keep blogger & facebook straight...

I love snow days!
Alyssa's school got cancelled on Wednesday for snow. I love snow days, they are definitely at the top of my favorite things list. I love them because for me it means spending the entire day playing with my kids and everything else sort of gets cancelled. It means a (rare) day that I don't have to leave the house for anything and getting dressed is completely optional. I say optional because I have a little girl that loves to declare a pajama day and then goes upstairs to change out of her current pajamas into the perfect pajamas for pajama day. But she doesn't usually stop there...Wednesday she wore 3 different pairs of pajamas and 1 ballet outfit...I LOVE her! Aiden on the other hand wants nothing to do with pajama day, this little boy wants clothes! As Alyssa started Kindergarten this year, I began to realize more and more how much she is growing up on me...this makes me sad. It also makes me savor every single minute I get to spend with her. So a snow day is like an entire extra day has been given to me to spend with her. Now I know she will have a make-up day at school, but there is something about the surprise of no school and cancelling the rest of the world to specifically play that makes it different. A friend and I always talk about wishing we had a pause button for life so these days with our little ones will stay forever...I wanted a pause button on Wednesday! Here is what a snow day at the Raines' house looks like...

Aiden's goes to the Dentist
Okay, I know I haven't kept this updated in forever and as time kept going by I didn't know where to start or how to catch up. But I have people in my life that I love that keep requesting a blog update...umm, Grandpa R. ;-) ;-) So I am going to just dive in and see if I can at least maintain this page. I won't try to catch up because too much of life has happened since last Easter! So, here we go!
Aiden had his first dentist appointment today and he was SOO very excited. He has always been a fan of the Doctor and Chiropractor so I knew today would be like every other visit...and it was.
Now if you know Aiden he eats, sleeps and breathes trains, since I have been to this office several times with Alyssa I already knew he would be a fan when he saw the Thomas train table and the entire wall of train mural. (Oh, and Alyssa is getting her teeth cleaned in the background of this picture.)
Sitting like a big boy all ready to go...he was a champ. Even followed instructions of opening wide ;-)

I would have loved to take more pictures, but I didn't want to be "that mom", so I just snuck in a few flashes.
So there you have it, a blog post....Enjoy!

Easter Egg Hunt
The Church where Alyssa goes to Preschool (also where my mom works and our great friend is the Pastor) had their Easter egg hunt this weekend. We have gone to it the last 3 years and always have a blast. This year they showed The Veggie Tales Easter movie before the hunt. It was so cute, they had tablecloths on the floor and popcorn, fruit snacks and water for all to enjoy!
Kyla, Aiden and Alyssa ready for the movie.
Sick Kids
I failed to mention in Alyssa's birthday post that when we got home from Indy that night she had a 104.1 fever. She acted completely normal all day, guess she really wanted to have her big birthday celebration. The next day she seemed better and was fever free the next evening. But by then Aiden had also developed a fever. He, however did not get better on his own. By Thursday afternoon it was apparent he needed to go somewhere for his cough, wheezing and fever. Since his Doctor was busy I had to go to Immediate Care (I really really really dislike IC). Long story short we spent 2 1/2 hours there doing breathing treatments and a chest x-ray only to be sent to ER because the Doc wasn't satisfied with his breathing. I felt we were well enough to go home with the steroid script and the nebulizer but followed instructions to the ER. After 2 more hours we were sent home with the same instructions as originally given at IC. We have also ended our antibiotic free streak with both kids since Aiden had bronchitis and and ear infection. So the next few days were a blur of Aiden crying, not sleeping, not eating and doing this:
Alyssa had a Birthday!
Oh I am so behind it is not even funny. So to bring myself back up to speed I am skipping to Alyssa's Birthday. My little girl turned 5 on March 9th!! I can not even believe she will start Kindergarten this fall. She is super excited for school, we went to Kindergarten Round-up a few weeks ago and she got to meet some teachers and walk around the school...this made her even more excited. I am so happy for her enthusiasm but I am working on mine! So here are some things we did to celebrate her day, she requested a trip to Indy so we spent the afternoon there:
